THE SULTAN OF JOHOR ASKED THE INDIAN COMMUNITY NOT TO BE INFLUENCED

JOHOR BAHRU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar said that the Indians in this state would not be easily influenced by the sedition trying to undermine racial harmony. He said racial and religious issues were sensitive issues that should not be raised by any party.

"I do not allow anyone who is trying to use religious and racial issues to damage the harmony of the people of Johor," he said at the royal dining ceremony with the Indian community in conjunction with the Coronation of the Sultan of Johor, here tonight.

Also present were Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Yang Mulia Che' Puan Khaleeda Bustamam.

The Sultan of Johor said there were irresponsible parties who sparked religious controversy that led to a commotion. He said that if anyone wanted to commit a violation of state law, they would be welcome to migrate to another country. According to Sultan Ibrahim, the Johor State Government and the Sultanate of Johor have never left any people but have always been fair to the needs of all people.

"In this regard, I urge the people of this country not to be influenced by attempts to damage the image of the people of this state who are under one banner of Bangsa Johor," he said.

At the event, he also offered a personal donation of RM1 million for the purpose of welfare of the Indian community in Johor specifically for the elderly and orphans. - BERNAMA
